Human resources have undergone significant change during the past few years. The sector has expanded and developed in numerous ways, and it now actively supports better business functionality by keeping track of how teams perform, how organizations operate, and how well-aligned people are with the organization’s objectives and workplace standards.
Modern HR trends emphasize the human side of human resources and people management to keep giving employees engaging and extraordinary work environments.
Any area of a business can benefit from the usage of technologies like AI, ML, and big data analysis. HR departments now have access to a variety of data thanks to technological advancements. This information covers employee demographics, statistics on hiring, and performance KPIs. In HR, adopting a data-driven approach to people analytics enables firms to learn useful details about employee productivity, happiness, and development. It also involves the influences they bring and how those factors impair or enhance their motivation and productivity. In 2000, Lisa Smith created The Staff Room with the goal of establishing a cutting-edge GTA-based HR consulting company that would offer superior guidance and high-quality services to neighborhood businesses.
The Staff Room is a reputable provider of human resources and human capital management services that values a compassionate, client-centered entrepreneurial mindset. Since its inception, The Staff Room has grown to be a reputable and honorably recognized name in the human resources sector.
Instead of continuing to be just an HR company, it has changed its offerings to become a more specialized service provider. It offers coaching to individuals, promotes teamwork, and eventually makes the company run more efficiently. The organization provides services like business restructuring, which begins with an HR audit to identify the company’s strengths and weaknesses, competitors, potential hazards, and whether or not the employees are in the right jobs or the right company.
Communication among all members of The Staff Room is conducted in a respectful and caring manner. According to the organization, “Our Human Resources consultants combine substantial knowledge in career management with past, hands-on business experience enabling them to give services suited to the realities of the marketplace.”
HR expert with vision
The Staff Room’s founder and CEO, Lisa Smith, established the business with the goal of establishing a GTA-based HR consulting agency that would offer top-notch guidance and services to nearby companies. When Lisa was working for a business that didn’t have human resources and was expanding quickly, the field of human resources simply dropped into her lap. Roughly 15 employees worked for the company when Lisa joined, and there were about 250 there when she departed; this all happened over the course of five to seven years.
Experiences on the road
When one starts their own business, they face various difficulties. According to Lisa, there are difficulties even now, and as the COVID program is implemented more widely, these difficulties are ever-evolving. The ever-changing COVID days are difficult for many business owners to keep up with, but Lisa and her team allow you to concentrate on what you do as they assist you in overcoming these numerous daily obstacles. When people question you and tell you that you can’t do anything, she advises being strong, optimistic, and surrounded by a lot of support. She continues, “This comment stokes the urge to further the dream and further disprove people’s assumptions with success.”
According to her, “Always make sure that you have a reserve of funding,” is the most important lesson she has learned. Because it costs money to generate money, you should always have a reserve because life won’t always be all champagne and rose petals. You need to be prepared for situations where all you get is water in a glass. At one point early on, I was unprepared for it and lacked a coach to guide me in how to manifest.
A Different View of Success
Each leader defines success in their own particular way. One of Lisa’s definitions of success is when a person reaches a place where they consistently assist others in the field who are going through similar problems. Since the human resource sector is difficult to break into, she considers it a triumph if she can assist even one individual in doing so and help him or her succeed.
Be Willing to Change
Lisa thinks that restructuring is crucial for an HR organization in order to be both educated and compliant. “By adding more innovation and being more open-minded,” she continues, “I hope to inspire change. At times, we must assume a risk in order to assist people and businesses. As soon as you recognize a risk, seize it and run with it. Because the world is changing and if we don’t change with it or keep up with it, then who are we and what are we doing? Be daring and don’t follow the crowd.
A Willing Leader
As president and CEO of The Staff Room, Lisa has a lot of duties to handle. She ensures that the finance necessary to run the company and its procedures is consistent in her role as a leader. The business earned the 2020 Nominated Global Business of the Year award under her wise leadership. Additionally, Lisa has received another nomination for the Canada-wide HR External Advisor/Consultancy of the Year award.
Maintaining Balance While Leading
By staying closed on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Lisa maintains a healthy balance between her personal and professional lives. Many people may claim that she works nonstop, and sometimes that is true when it is necessary, but she also maintains that she occasionally makes time for her family and herself.
She does this at the company by telling staff members that tomorrow will offer fresh opportunities and that they can change the day by making it better. You are on the correct path to becoming the best version of yourself if you learn something new every day, she continues.
“You may not know everything about everything, but if you know a little bit about a lot of things, that makes you a really respected and competent person,” she continues. Maintain your knowledge, continue your education, and always see the positive side of things.
